The following photos are from a trip on CP's Kettle Valley Express before the line are abandoned. Mostly scenes.

The following are images of the weed train that was built by CP Rail as an experiment to kill weeds without pesticides. The train used superheated steam to kill the weeds. There were wings on each side of the car with the long boiler on it. They would fold down and stray superheated steam along the roadbed. The operator in the control cab would raise and lower the wings at crossings etc. He did not control the locomotive. I heard the train went to Alaska for a year. The last I heard the train was dismantled and parts stored in Port Coquitlam. Gordon.

From the photos, this train was made by a company. The unique cars were the control cab and steam "sprayer." The three had three steam generator cars and the GP-9m appears to have been modified. - (GPE)
