These images were take between 1958 and 2001 at various locations on Vancouver Island B.C. When 1044 was being put on display, the trailing truck jumped the track. It was not going to retire without a fight. Hillcrest 9 is operating today. The Christmas train is in Pt. Alberni B.C. and is operated by a meseum there. The logs from M&B were loaded at Nanaimo Lakes on CP skeleton cars, then moved to Ladysmith on the same track that CL&R used. It was then picked up at the Ladysmith Diamond and hauled to Chemainus Sawmill by CP Rail. At Chemainus it was turned over to M&B and taken down to the dump by 1044 or 1055. - Gordon P. Hulford

The Allegheny Railroad was bought by Genesee and Wyoming Industries on November 25, 1992, and renamed the Allegheny and Eastern Railroad. The remaining ALY engines, GP40's #301, #302, and GP35 #305 are now lettered for the Buffalo and Pittsburgh Railroad. Other ALY engines include a GP35 in GWI's Mexico railroad as a slug, and two CF7's in Louisiana on the Louisiana and Delta (another GWI railroad.) - Greg Wiltsie

Before I start, at the risk of sounding all knowing, I have worked on, in under and on top of the Railcar in question so my reply is not a guess or conjecture. The car pictured with the Capitol Dome Emblems is former Amtrak 3850, Former PC originally of the McGinnis era New Haven Fleet of PULLMAN STANDARD coaches. If any emblem belongs there it is a stacked NH on an Oranage Window Band. The photo is of the car in Excursion service coupled to the Orrville Railroad Hertiage Committee's ORHC101. The car is today outfitted as a parlor car, with the New Haven/Amtrak interior totally removed(Thank God). The car is now named the C&B Marshall after relatives of the current owner, who worked for the B&O in Grafton West Virginia. The car is home based in Orrville, Ohio on the former Pennsy Main line.
